When a man tells a woman she is beautiful, it feels good. But when the words “YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL” come from another woman, the sentiment generates a deeper warmth, connection, and sense of purpose.
The truth is, there is a special kind of power in women uniting and sharing within safe spaces just for them.
That’s why, first thing in the morning on Dec 5, 2021, I woke up and created United By Pearls, a Facebook group created exclusively by women, for women. At United By Pearls, our simple mission is to create a safe space in which women around the world can seek connection, encouragement, and purpose.
Within our private, members-only group, we address the most pressing issues affecting women around the world today. We also celebrate life’s milestones, pray for one another, mourn our heartbreaks, lift up our ground breakers and changemakers, encourage one another in our efforts to conquer health challenges, share our favorite products, and spread pearls of wisdom, beauty, and truth.
On first glance, a pearl may seem like simply a white sphere. But its beauty lies in the way this small globe reflects so many different forms, colors, designs. As such, each pearl is beautiful in its own unique way, just like every single woman in this group. At United By Pearls, we find connection in our commonalities while celebrating the things that make each of us uniquely beautiful.
Clearly there was a great need for this kind of community, because after creating the group on Facebook, within ten days we hit 31,000 members. We held our first event on Jan 20, 2020 as we celebrated the inauguration of the first woman vice president in U.S. history.
Today, our group is more than half a million members strong and growing every day. But to us, our success is about more than just numbers. It is about the ways we continue to lift up one another every day on our way to become empowered, successful, and fulfilled women leaders.
At United By Pearls, we believe that behind every successful woman is a tribe of other successful women who have her back. As such, our ultimate goal is to build this tribe so we can have each other’s backs as we transform our lives and our world.
